Shopping for yarn is incredibly fun; there are so many colors, weights, sizes, and textures to choose from. But shopping for yarn online can be tough, especially since you can’t touch the skeins yourself to see if they’re as comfy or high quality as they look. Craft giants like Michaels and Joann are safe if you know the yarn brand you want to shop, but can often lead to poor-quality yarn if you’re not careful.
Recently, I had the opportunity to test out Revolution Fibers, an online craft store that specializes in fiber arts (crochet, knitting, yarn, wool, etc.). The brand is available to shop on Amazon, so I loaded up my cart and got to work testing out the brand’s best-selling offerings.
Here’s what I thought about Revolution Fibers—spoiler alert, it’s now one of my favorite places to shop for yarn online.

Revolution Fibers sells everything you need for your fiber art of choice, whether you’re an avid knitter or a crochet enthusiast. The brand also sells spinning wheels, drop spindles, and roving wool if you’re interested in spinning your own yarn. You can shop yarn, wool, and crafting tools on Amazon, but the brand’s full slate of wares is available on its site.
Arm knitting was a breeze with the roving wool.
I live to knit, so I already have a huge collection of yarn and knitting needles. I also have strong opinions on yarn, so I was excited to get my hands on Revolution Fibers’ offerings. I’m able to crochet, although it’s never been my favorite craft—but the brand had a snazzy set of crochet hooks I wanted to test, so I brushed off those skills. I’ve never spun my own yarn before, so I was very eager to try that out with a drop spindle. I’ve also never done arm knitting before, but the roving wool was calling for me to try it out.

Every skein of yarn I received from Revolution Fibers was a winner, which is really surprising when you realize I ordered four different brands. My favorites came from Lamb’s Pride and Lanaloft—these yarns were made from wool, so they were scratchier than normal polyester blends you may grab from Michaels, but they were so easy to work with and looked beautiful.
I made a happy little knitted bunny with the purple Lamb’s Pride. It’s not a cheap blend (190 yards costs about $15), but I still had half a skein left after making a stuffed animal, so the rest has been used in a blanket I’m crocheting. With the Lanaloft, I made a knitted elephant and used the rest for my blanket, as well.
The roving wool is equally high quality and fun to work with. I arm knitted a small pet bed and loved how it turned out. The wool is incredibly soft and easy to use—plus its vibrant colors really make it stand out.
Crochet is not my craft of choice. The only crochet hooks I’ve used previously have been the generic aluminum Loops & Threads ones from Michaels. They’re not my favorite; once your hands get sweaty, it’s really difficult to get yarn on and off the hook easily, part of what turned me off from crochet in general. So when I tried out the Revoluion Fibers crochet hook set, my expectations were low.
But wow, was I wrong. This set was not only gorgeous—it’d make an excellent gift for any crafter in your life—but the hooks held up really well with crafting. The brand says they’re made from wood, but they felt like plastic to me. The surface was incredibly smooth and stayed that way even when my hands got sweaty. I’ve worked my way through half of a blanket so far and the crochet hook hasn’t warped or lost any of its smoothness.
If you’re on the hunt for an online yarn store with a great selection, Revolution Fibers is top notch. The Amazon storefront doesn’t carry as much yarn as the direct site, so I’d recommend shopping directly from the site before you make your selection so you can see the entire catalog. The site sells varying weights, colors, and textures of yarn, and from my experience, every skein was a winner.
Yarn isn’t the only impressive find, however. Revolution Fibers covers the gamut of fiber arts, so more advanced artists can shop tools suited to their trades, like spinning wheels, looms, and drum carders.
Obviously if you shop Revolution Fibers on Amazon, you’ll get that sweet two-day shipping. But if you order directly from the site, shipping is nearly as speedy. My shipment arrived in just a few days. You’ll have to pay for shipping (unless you spend over $75), but it’ll be free if you shop on Amazon.
The crochet hook showed a little wear on its end after use.
I didn’t have many complaints about Revolution Fibers. The only flaw I found—and this is very nitpicky—was that the crochet hooks showed wear pretty quickly after use. I’ve been working my way through a blanket, and after just a few squares, the hook started to turn black. I assume I’ve worn off a bit of its coating, which is to be expected after using fiber tools over time (it happens to all of my knitting needles, too). But it happened much quicker with these hooks than any other tools I’ve used before.
The good news is that while a bit of the exterior rubbed off, it didn’t get much worse over time—after 63 blocks, the crochet hook looks the same as it did after five blocks. The functionality hasn’t been impacted at all—they’re still just as smooth and effective after multiple weeks of constant use.
This is another very small complaint with a huge caveat: I have never used a drop spindle before. I followed a tutorial by Jillian Eve and was able to get spinning started, but it was incredibly difficult to do it properly—the roving wool I used was difficult to thin out and the yarn line itself kept slipping from the groove in the drop spindle. Ultimately I gave up.
The spindle is drop-dead gorgeous, so if you’re a fan of hand spinning or know someone who is, this would be a great purchase. But for me, I wouldn’t purchase this.

Revolution Fibers has become one of my go-to yarn stores. It’s an excellent place to shop for yarn, wool, and knitting or crochet tools. It’s not as cheap as big-box retailers like Michaels or Joann, but you’re paying for elevated quality—and the guarantee that you won’t receive cheap or subpar yarn.
